The Orcas Road Classics Association is presenting its annual Car Show and Shine on Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Eastsound Airport, in conjunction with the Orcas Fly-In.

“This wonderful ‘home town’ event is open to all antique, classic, collector and just plain interesting vehicles!” organizers say.

The club invites all vintage, significant and unusual cars, trucks and motorcycles to participate.

Many owners stay with their cars to field questions about automotive cultural history, taking visitors on a trip down memory lane.

Offerings are expected to include everything from Model T Fords and other early American icons to MG’s and Porsches.

“Our hope with this year’s entrants is to bring a cross section of not just the island’s automotive offerings … but also from the surrounding islands and mainland,” said club president Trey Vore. “As car culture changes in America, we want to do our part to both preserve and share our love and enthusiasm with both young and old.”

This year’s event benefits the Orcas Island Food Bank through an entry fee of $10 or a nonperishable food contribution.

Entrants are asked to arrive by 10 a.m. for registration and placement.

While the show is not competitive, People’s Choice and Best-in-Show awards will be presented, just for fun.

“So shine up old ‘Betsy’… and we’ll see you there!” said organizers.
