WEDNESDAY, Sept. 3

Wooden Boat Rendezvous, Captains’ meeting on the dock at the Deer Harbor Marina, followed by an open-class sailboat race. Awards ceremony and a potluck dinner on the Deer Harbor dock.

New Family Welcome Tea sponsored by the PTSA takes place from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. in the School Library. Families new to the Orcas Island School District, and families of new Kindergarteners, are invited to an informal gathering – including refreshments.

Open Mic Pizza Night at Doe Bay Resort. A weekly benefit for a different nonprofit organization each month. 6 to 10 p.m., with open mic starting between 7 to 8.

“ENIGMA et al,” abstract art exhibit Opening Reception, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Orcas Center.

“End of Summer” Dance with the Steve Alboucq Jazz Quartet. Sponsored by the Orcas Island Dance Club – open to everyone. 8:30 p.m. at Orcas Center, Madrona Room. Saturday Farmers’ Market in Eastsound Village Green, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning May 3.

Orcas Public Library’s Saturday storytimes will be held from 11:30 am to noon on the Village Green during the Farmers Market season.

Golf Classic – Orcas Center, Island Market and Red Rabbit Farm sponsors. Optional costumes to The Ceremony and reception catered by Red Rabbit Farm. Entry fee $125 and includes greens fee, goodie bag, continental breakfast, lunch, reception buffet, and hosted bar. 9:30 am registration/breakfast; 11 a.m.m Tee Time at Orcas Island Country Golf Club. Kaleidoscope’s fourth annual “Island Grown, Island Raised” Dinner, with Live Auction at 5:30 at the Orcas Senior Center. $50 for five-course meal and wine from Lopez Vineyards. Summit Bike Challenge at Moran State Park for family and community. 10 a.m. check-in at Cascade Lake Shelter in the Park. Cost $25 individual, kids, 12 and under $15.
