The Random Howse will present a night of high-caliber folk music with Jason Harrod and Mandy Troxel

The Random Howse will present a night of high-caliber folk music with Jason Harrod and Mandy Troxel on Sunday, Aug. 16. Their  acoustic sets will  feature award-winning songwriting and roots-based musicality as they perform solo and together onstage.

Jason HarrodBrooklyn-based Harrod is known for his generous melodies and poetic, image-rich lyrics. Over years of constant writing, recording, and touring, Harrod has garnered a devoted fan base, including Orcas Islanders who discovered him via the Woodsong Music Festival.  Harrod often begins performances by stating that he sings of “God, Women and Geography,” and his third solo release, “Highliner,” has reached a high watermark of musicality and poetry. Mandy TroxelLocal songstress Troxel is no stranger to the Random Howse stage, most recently with her band The Bitter Ends. This solo performance is a chance for her to showcase the quieter, introspective songs from her latest release “If Only Words Could Keep Me Warm,” described by award-winning songwriter Jan Krist as having “the feel of an old friend, pulling the listener into heartfelt conversation with lyrics both wistful and wise.”

Chef Martin Zuniga of the Random Howse kitchen will be serving up favorites from his flavorful international menu. Doors open at 6 p.m., music begins at 6:30 p.m. There is no cover charge.
