Local songstress Susan Osborn, who has been performing in Japan for over 20 years, will sing “Songs of Japan” this Sunday, March 20, 4 p.m. at the Orcas Island Community Church. Donations received will be sent directly to the Mayor of Sendai for ongoing emergency relief efforts there.

Sendai, with a population of over a million people, was the hardest hit by last week’s tragic tsunami. It is also the home of Susan’s eighty-three year-old “Japanese mother.”

“Please join us Sunday as Orcas Islanders are reminded of Japan’s rich cultural history, and then show our love for the Japanese people through contributing generously to help them in their overwhelming time of need,” said OICC pastor Dick Staub.

A nursery will be provided for children five and under.

Checks may be written to OICC Helping Hands Japan Relief Fund and donated Sunday or sent to PO Box 205, Eastsound, WA 98245. For more information contact Monique Turner at 376-6422, or moniqueturner6@gmail.com.
