Steve Horn, a long-time resident of Lopez Island and full-time professional photographer since the mid-1980s, is gradually packing and moving out of his workplace in the Friendly Isle Building after 25 years.

“I will miss being in this bright space in the heart of the Village, he says, “And I will also miss the ease of having people stop by. I’m so grateful to the Island communities for their support and appreciation over the years. For over two decades of that time, Carol Noyes and Tara Dalton worked with me in the studio. I feel very blessed to have had this long connection to people and place.”

Horn and his wife, the artist and educator Polly Ham, have been facing the challenges of an as-yet undiagnosed set of health issues that he is dealing with. “Of course, the hope is that this will be diagnosed soon and that my health will improve. I’m only 70 and have family and friends who are dear to me. Then too, I’d love to photograph once again. I’m setting up a workspace in our home that will work well for whatever lies ahead.”

This Saturday, Feb. 15, Steve Horn and his family will be having a sale of fine art prints, photo gear and office equipment at the Village studio from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. His 2-year-old granddaughter will be there too. Her mom, Laurel, reports that “Lyla is a great saleswoman – can talk someone into just about anything!”
