San Juan County seeks planning commissioners

Submitted by San Juan County.

San Juan County is looking for interested volunteers to fill two vacancies on the Planning Commission. Position #5 will serve a partial term that ends in December of 2024. Position #8 will also serve a partial term that will end in December of 2025. Members need to be residents on San Juan Island and share a strong interest in helping make San Juan County a better place!

The Planning Commission is a group of citizen volunteers appointed by the County Council who make recommendations on planning-related matters including the Comprehensive Plan and Development Code. Workshops and public hearings of the Planning Commission are important public forums where public opinion and advice become part of the County’s records and decision-making process.

Meetings are typically held once per month on the third Friday of the month in the morning, but occasionally special meetings may be called to address topics of a specific nature or maintain schedules for large projects. Regular attendance is important as is a willingness to participate collaboratively with the public and staff. To apply, please send an email to ingridg@sanjuanco.com for a volunteer application.
