Salmonberry welcomes new Kindergarten teacher

Salmonberry School has hired a new kindergarten teacher Paul Brahce. He brings with him a tremendous background in early childhood and early grades education. He also has an impressive resume in school leadership in progressive and independent schools.

Brahce has completed graduate studies at the University of Washington, Antioch College, Earlham College and Seattle Pacific University. He has served as head of school for the Little School in Bellevue, Washington, for 13 years as well as head of the Wingra School in Madison, Wisconsin for eight more years, and was executive director at the Preschool of the Arts in Madison.

“Schools don’t have to make children learn,” says Brahce. “In my experience, effective teaching involves knowing children well, nurturing their minds and spirits and stretching them to explore new possibilities.”

Salmonberry School is delighted to extend an invitation to the entire Orcas Island community to come and welcome Brahce to the island at our community potluck and sing along at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5. Singers and songwriters Tom Rawson and Mandy Troxel will be on hand to share some songs with you all. Salmonberry’s classrooms will also be open to all visitors.
