Paintings, holograms on display at Orcas Island bank in June

Orcas artists Kari Van Gelder and holographer Jeffrey Murray will display paintings and holograms during the month of June in the lobby of Islanders Bank in Eastsound.

Orcas artists Kari Van Gelder and holographer Jeffrey Murray will display paintings and holograms during the month of June in the lobby of Islanders Bank in Eastsound.

Kari will be showing work from her ongoing labyrinth series as well as from a new series of paintings entitled “Go Outside.” Jeffrey will be showing works from his many years of creating holograms, ranging from portraits to still lifes to the inexplicable.

Kari added painting to her creative pursuits five years ago. She is part of Bossy’s Feltworks, which sells their wares every Saturday at the Farmer’s Market. Jeffrey formerly taught holography classes in Berkeley, California, and was director of the San Francisco Holography Institute through the 1990s.

An opening party will be held Friday, June 6, from 3 to 5 p.m.
