The Orcas Island Camera Club is presenting two showings of members’ images at the Orcas Senior Center’s Lundeen Room during January and February.

The January show, titled “New Images,” is opening on Friday, Jan. 9 with a 5:30 p.m. reception. The February show will open with a reception on Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m.

The Orcas Island Camera Club is an active group of nearly 50 local photographers that has formed in the past year. The group is comprised of photographers of all levels interested in sharing images, knowledge and techniques in a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere.

The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month. Meetings often include sharing photos of a specific theme and skill development presentations. The club has organized field trips as well, including a Skagit River eagle safari and a Yellow Island wildflower “shoot.” The club is supported by member donations and is open to new members at all meetings. Subgroups are beginning to form to focus on printing techniques, black and white work and other themes.
