New “Music Together” classes starting soon at the Funhouse

Submitted by the Funhouse Commons.

Our upcoming Winter Music Together class session at the Funhouse will be starting in January!

For the second year in a row, the Funhouse has been awarded a grant from Jubilation Foundation to support scholarships for this program, so we are really trying to spread the word to reach out to more families who may be interested in participating in this wonderful opportunity.

Music Together® has been provided at the Funhouse since the Spring of 2009. Often, families need financial assistance and the grant has really helped! Music Together® is practiced all over the world! This awesome program is based on the idea that children thrive in a play-based, musical environment while being inspired by the modeling of their grown-up caregivers. Mixed-age classes give children ages 0-5 the experience to learn to sing in tune and keep a steady beat in a hands-on, interactive setting.

“In Music Together® class, we sing, dance, chant, play instruments, make up our own verses, and have a most fantastic time,” says Miss Mary, Music Together® teacher. “Adults learn and have fun too!” 9-week sessions correspond with the seasons and families take home a parent-guide DVD, a CD, and a beautifully illustrated songbook to make music with at home.”

A free demo class is on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 10 a.m., at the Funhouse. Winter Session begins Wednesday, Jan. 22. Classes will meet every Wednesday thereafter at 10 a.m. Please enroll no later than Jan. 10. Scholarship and enrollment forms can be obtained and submitted at the Funhouse office. If this class fills up, a second class may be added. Additional information can be found at missmarysisland.com, and more info about Music Together® can be found at musictogether.com.
