Learn about exotic celestial objects during lecture

Start your new year looking into the vast recesses of space with an astrophysicist as your guide.

In part three of the lecture series “Meeting of the Minds” at the Orcas Senior Center, Dr. Kenneth Gibbs will present on his book “The High Energy Universe.” Study exotic celestial objects such as black holes, pulsars, active galaxies and x-ray binaries at 1 p.m. in the Lundeen Room at the Orcas Senior Center on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Dr. Gibbs’ career in astrophysics spanned the range from very-high, through ultra-high to extremely-high energy cosmic rays. He contributed to the design, construction and operation of three of the largest ground-based cosmic ray detectors ever built.
