Farmer who battled Monsanto over GMO canola drift will speak on San Juan Island

Canadian farmer Percy Schmeiser, famous for challenging Monsanto over contamination of his fields with RoundUp Ready canola, will speak at the San Juan Island Grange Hall on Sunday, Oct. 23. Schmeiser will discuss his experiences battling Monsanto in court and speak about the dangers of introducing genetically modified organisms to the food system.

Canadian farmer Percy Schmeiser, famous for his court battle against Monsanto over his crops contaminated with RoundUp Ready canola, will speak at the San Juan Island Grange Hall this Sunday, Oct. 23.

Schmeiser will discuss his experiences fighting Monsanto in court and speak about the dangers of introducing genetically modified organisms to the food system.

The cost is $15 per person at the door. The event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Schmeiser is being hosted by the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild. The grange hall is located at 152 North 1st Street.
