The Actors Theater of Orcas Island is presenting six performances of “Noises Off” by Michael Frayn.

The play is about a theater company presenting the play “Nothing On.” The production shows what really happens backstage, including a dress rehearsal, the final product, and the close of the show.

“Noises Off” is considered by many to be the best farce written in the past 100 years. The New York Times called it “The most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy. A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce. This dizzy, well-known romp is festival of delirium.”

The performance will feature a mix of well-known Orcas actors as well as a number of actors new to The Actors Theater. Patty Monaco is playing the role of Dotty Oakley, Frank Michels is Lloyd, the director, Nick Hershenow is Garry, Kaitlyn Richards is Brooke, Dove Dingman is Poppy, the assistant stage manager, Freddy Hinkle is Tim, the stage manager, Ron Herman is Frederick, Cele Westlake is Belinda, and Tony Lee is Selsdon Mobray. “Noises Off’ is directed by Doug Bechtel.

There will be a sneak preview on Thursday, Feb. 18 with all proceeds going to Kaleidoscope. Tickets are $25 and include beverages and dessert. They are available from Kaleidoscope board members and at Darvill’s.

“Noises Off” will also be performed on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19 and 20 and Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 26, 27 and 28. Tickets are $10 at Darvill’s and at the door. All performances start at 7:30 p.m. at the Grange.
