Thanks for Pride | Letter

Orcas Island’s Pride festival was an incredible success. We danced, sang and celebrated the LGBTQIA+ community in the San Juans and beyond.

Every single thing that went into the event was donated by someone in the community, whether it was a pop-up tent, a can of paint, bouquets of flowers or time. In a time when most Pride parades and marches are sponsored by rainbow-covered corporations, it was truly amazing to host an event that was ignited by community passion. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported Pride through donations, on social media and by attending the first annual Pride! Your support and encouragement made this event a far-reaching success and started the momentum for future Pride events to come.

We would like to extend a special thanks to our booths and supporters: Ecstatic Dance, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Girl Meets Dirt, Ian Welch, Stephie Mac, IRHI, Kaleidoscope, Maggie Doss and Claire Nollman, Orcas Center, Orcas High School GSA, Orcas Island Candle Co., Orcas Montessori, Orcas Song Farm, Out on Orcas, Safe San Juans, San Juan County Parks, The Barnacle, The Exchange, The LGBTQ Fund, The Lower Tavern, The Office Cupboard, The Print Shop and West Beach Farm.
