Jan. 25 was the 254th Anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, the world famous Scottish poet.

To commemorate this auspicious occasion, the Deer Harbor Community Club held a “Burns Supper” at their monthly meeting on Jan. 13. The evening was attended by more than 70 people. Entertainment was provided by well-known Orcas Islanders, singing Robert Burns songs and reciting some of his poems. The event concluded with a lively rendition of Scottish country dances. The highlight of the evening, similar to Burns Suppers held all over the world, was “the piping of the haggis.” The piper led four servers into the hall with an ample supply of haggis, “neeps,” and “tatties.” Thanks to all of the performers.  A very enjoyable evening was had by all.
