The Orcas Island Public Library is choosing the week of July 13 to 18 to honor its many volunteers. Currently they have more than 40 islanders of all ages and walks of life assisting the staff. The volunteers perform a wide variety of tasks, including gardening, building maintenance, cataloging new items, shelving, bookkeeping, emptying and returning books from the three island remote book drops and working with patrons at the front desk.

The library invites the public to stop by and meet and thank this dedicated group of individuals who set aside time from their schedules every week to help the library staff.

“We couldn’t keep our doors open without them,” says library staff.
