Thank you for bringing the Shakespeare Company to Orcas | Letter

Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for bringing the Seattle Shakespeare Company to Orcas Island.  The students in middle and high schools enjoyed the company’s performance of Romeo and Juliet followed by a question and answer session with the actors. The students had some good questions about the life of an actor in such a company. In addition, some students participated in a workshop with the actors on the morning of the performance and reported that it was a fine experience. The next evening some students, including those from AP English class, attended the company’s performance of Hamlet.

Shakespeare’s work continues to be a staple of English classes at high school.  All of our students are familiar with Romeo and Juliet and most can quote various selections from Shakespeare’s work. To have the opportunity to experience these live performances in a real theater at the Orcas Center, is a great gift that is much appreciated.

On behalf of both students and staff, thank you.
