The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

June 24

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a traffic offense. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

• A San Juan deputy attempted to initiate a stop on a speeding motorcyclist, who eluded them. The rider was later located arrested for attempting to elude a police vehicle and reckless driving.

June 25

• A San Juan deputy was dispatched to a report of threats. A report was taken and a probable cause statement was sent to the prosecutor for further review.

• An intrepid 6-year-old explorer snuck out of his home during the early morning hours, seeking adventure with the hope of catching a ship to an exotic location. A good Samaritan and a Lopez deputy reunited him with his father.

• A deputy on San Juan arrested a person on an outstanding warrant. The person was booked into jail and an additional report will be forwarded regarding an alcohol conditions violation.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle as the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license in the second degree.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding and lane travel. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and issued citations for speeding and driving left of center.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a disorderly person. The person was arrested for trespassing.

June 26

• Deputies on Orcas collected firearms for safekeeping at the owner’s request.

• A deputy conducted a business check because of an anonymous tip that a business in Eastsound was not following the mask-wearing protocol set by the county. The business owner was spoken to and they are taking every precaution according to the laws.

• A Lopez resident reported an incident of fraud involving their Amazon Prime account.

• A Lopez resident reported a decrepit motor home driving on a private road, possibly looking to camp. The area was checked a short time later and found to be clear.

• A deputy was dispatched to a citizen dispute in the Friday Harbor area. When the deputy arrived, one of the people involved had already left the scene.

• A deputy was dispatched to a medical situation at the ferry landing in Friday Harbor. The investigation continues.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a single-vehicle accident on Mud Bay Road. There were no injuries or reportable damage done to property.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a citizen dispute at a business. The suspect was located and arrested for third-degree theft, third-degree malicious mischief and for obstructing a law enforcement officer.

June 27

• Lopez deputies responded to a home invasion complaint. The reporting person stated several unidentified people were trying to break into his home. It was determined the reporting person was suffering a mental episode that was causing hallucinations. He was evaluated by emergency medical services.

• Deputies responded to a possible domestic dispute call in Eastsound. After the investigation was completed it was determined that there was no crime committed.

• On San Juan, a person turned in a bank card they found in the roadway during a walk. The sheriff’s office entered the item into evidence.

• A Lopez resident reported a possible violation of a no-contact order. The matter is under investigation.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a citizen dispute at a grocery store. The female suspect will have charges referred to the court for trespassing and assault, with a request for mandatory mental health care intervention.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a domestic incident. The incident was found to be verbal only.

• A deputy on San Juan assisted Safe San Juans with a person in need.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a communications call. The investigation is ongoing.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for having an expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for having an expired vehicle registration of more than two months.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for a defective headlight, a defective license plate light and an expired registration of more than two months. A citation was issued to the driver for the expired registration.

June 28

• Lopez deputies took a man into protective custody after a series of calls involving the subject. He was transported to a hospital for an evaluation.

June 29

• A deputy was contacted in reference to possible fraud. The caller said they had received a call from someone claiming to be with a utility company and were told they owed money and needed to make payments. The caller did not owe anything.

• In Friday Harbor, a deputy responded to a report of attempted fraud by an unknown individual. After speaking with the caller it was determined that no loss had occurred.

• Deputies impounded a vehicle that had been parked at the Orcas Park and Ride for an extensive amount of time and appeared to be abandoned.

• A deputy was dispatched to a reported theft of a ladder in Eastsound.

• A deputy on San Juan was dispatched to a report of an unwanted person at 421 Miller Road. The unwanted person was issued a trespass letter. Another resident, who had a warrant out of San Juan Count, was taken in custody.

• A deputy on Orcas encountered a juvenile who had crashed his bicycle. The juvenile was given a ride home and delivered into the care of his parents.

• A deputy was dispatched to an accident in the Friday Harbor area. When deputies arrived, the vehicle was gone but deputies located it later.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for lane travel. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and issued citations for not having insurance, driving left of the center lane and having an open alcohol container in the car.

June 30

• A deputy on San Juan was sent to a report of found property. The caller said they had found an item on their property.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a citizen assist.
