The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:

May 9

• A deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding on Orcas Road. The driver was issued an infraction for speeding 54 mph in a 40 mph speed zone.

• A deputy responded to a report of a domestic incident in Friday Harbor. The deputy gathered statements from the two parties involved and a witness. It was determined there was no probable cause to believe that an assault occurred.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a DUI. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DUI and was later released with a pending court date.

May 10

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a juvenile that was in possession of drugs. The juvenile was referred to juvenile court.

• A deputy was dispatched to an agency assist in Friday Harbor. An investigation was completed and forwarded to the agency.

May 11

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of trespassing. The deputy took the report and follow up will need to be done to contact the suspect and serve him with a trespass letter.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of trespassing. The property owner had found what remained of a campsite. An informational report was taken.

• A deputy was dispatched to theft of mail in Friday Harbor. There are no suspects or further information at this time.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued an infraction for speeding 49 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• An Orcas deputy conducted a traffic stop in Eastsound. The driver was given an infraction for speeding 42 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued an infraction for speeding 41 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A Lopez Island deputy responded to the vicinity of Hughes Bay for a report of two boats tied up to privately owned buoys without permission. The vessel operators were contacted and agreed to move on.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued an infraction for speeding 42 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a medical call at the station regarding an inmate in the jail. The deputy transported the male to the emergency room. The man was treated and transported back to jail.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for having an expired registration. The driver was issued an infraction for having expired tabs for over two months and not having insurance.

• A deputy responded to a report of threat in the Friday Harbor area. The deputy made phone contact with the caller, obtained the information needed and completed an informational report.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for lane travel, speeding and having defective brake lights. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and issued an infraction for speeding 41 mph in a 25 mph zone, having defective brake lights and an open container.

May 12

• A deputy responded to a report of a possible probation violation in Friday Harbor. The deputy made verbal contact with the individual involved and completed a report.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a car that swerved to miss a deer and ran off the road. The driver reported that he did not need an accident report, already called a tow truck to get the car, and just wanted to advise the sheriff’s office.

• A deputy responded to a phone report of a threat call from someone in Mt. Vernon to Friday Harbor.

• An Orcas deputy initiated a traffic stop on Orcas Road. The driver was issued an infraction for speeding 45 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued an infraction for speeding 45 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A Lopez Island deputy stopped a motorist in the Lopez Village after he saw him driving while wearing his seat belt. The deputy issued the driver a ticket for failing to wear his seat belt.

• A Lopez Island deputy stopped a motorist near the Lopez Village after he saw the driver speeding. The deputy issued the driver a ticket for speeding.

• A Lopez Island deputy stopped a motorist on Weeks Road after he saw the vehicle operator speeding in the 2100 block of Fisherman Bay Road. The deputy issued the driver a ticket for speeding.

May 13

• A Lopez Island deputy responded to a residence on Port Stanley Road for a possible intruder complaint. A search of the property showed no evidence of any criminal activity. A report was completed.

• A Friday Harbor deputy took a report of theft of motor vehicle. There is a possible suspect at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

• A Lopez Island woman discovered keys left in her car after giving some people a ride. The woman turned the keys over to a deputy who was able to reunite them with their rightful owner.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a possible overdose. After the individual was seen by EMS personnel they were cleared. A report was taken.

May 14

• A deputy was dispatched to a vehicle prowl that just occurred in Friday Harbor. The suspect was later located and taken in custody.

• A Lopez deputy contacted a business owner in the village whose restaurant was burglarized in the overnight hours. The case is under investigation.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of a burglary. A report was taken.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of a hit and run. A local business was hit by a vehicle. A report was taken.

• A deputy on Orcas contacted and arrested a male subject for a misdemeanor warrant. The subject was booked into jail.

• A Lopez deputy was contacted regarding an ongoing landlord-tenant dispute. An informational report was completed.

A Lopez Island deputy contacted a local resident about a barking dog. The reporting party was also contacted and was satisfied that the matter was being resolved.

May 15

• A deputy was dispatched to a missing juvenile in Friday Harbor. The parent filled out a juvenile pick-up notice. The juvenile has not been located at this time.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a person with mental problems. The person was taken into custody and brought to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
