San Juan Island blood drive, Oct. 17

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. Although an estimated 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood at any given time, less than 10 percent of that eligible population actually does each year.

Join the next blood drives from noon-6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the Mullis Community Senior Center on San Juan; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eastsound Fire Department, Thursday, Oct. 18; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Community Church in Lopez Village, Friday, Oct. 19. (closed 1:30-2:30 p.m.).
