Orcas Christian School celebrates National School Lunch week

From ratatouille to jambalaya, the new school lunch program at Orcas Christian School is off to a great start.

The week of Oct. 9 kicks off National School Lunch Week and OCS is celebrating. The program is part of the National School Lunch Program, which means that healthy school meals are affordable and available to all kids no matter the level of household need. By partnering with the Orcas Food Co-op, Island Market and even a few local farmers, the program continues to overcome some of the challenges of living on an island and procuring healthy food items at reasonable prices. Much appreciation goes out to these partners!

OCS hopes to continue growing the program by adding a school garden and composting program. If you’d like more information on the program, or how your children can benefit, please contact the school office at 360-376-6683.
