Lewis to open Brown Bag concerts

Emmanuel Episcopal Parish and the Music Committee will present organist and choir director Marianne Lewis at the opening concert on Wednesday, July 3. This will be her 15th performance with the Brown Bag Concerts.

Lewis is a graduate of Lewis & Clark College and the University of Oregon, where she studied with Lee Grant, Edith Kilbuck and Guy Bovet. In addition to playing the organ, Lewis is a harpsichordist and pianist. She is also the artistic director and conductor of the Orcas Choral Society.

The program is all Johann Sebastian Bach and will include Prelude and Fugue in C minor,Adagio from Sonata 1, two chorale preludes on Nun komm der Heiden Heiland, chorale prelude Von Gott will ich nicht lassen, “From God Can Nothing Move Me,” and conclude with Fantasia and Fugue in C minor.

Bring your friends and enjoy a half hour of music at noon in the church. There is no charge for the concert but donations are welcomed to fund the Virgile Cleveland Memorial Scholarship awarded every year to Orcas Music students.
