Almost Classical and friends perform at village green

Popular local artists Lisa Carter, Emy Carter and Paris Wilson of the trio Almost Classical will perform with friends and local guest artists Madison West and Corey Wiscomb on the Village Green in Eastsound Sunday, Aug. 6 from 5–7 p.m.

The concert is part of the popular Music in the Park series, now in its 18th year, and admission is free.

Orcas Island residents and visitors should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating, along with sunglasses, hats and refreshments. They can expect a lively mix of pop song covers and original songs from Almost Classical’s Lisa Carter on piano, Emy Carter and Paris Wilson on violins.

The girls returned recently from a tour of Finland with the North Stars Chamber Orchestra. On Aug. 6, the trio will perform several new songs from their new self-titled CD.

Interspersed with Almost Classical sets will be a variety of other performances, including originals and covers by singer-songwriter West on vocals and guitar; duets by Paris Wilson on violin and Corey Wiscomb on piano and guitar; plus duets by Lisa and Emy Carter on piano and violin, respectively.

Lisa and Emy Carter are juniors at Biola University in La Mirada, California. Wilson is a junior at Orcas Island High School. West is a sophomore at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and Wiscomb teaches art and coaches basketball at Orcas Island High School.
