All-Stars present ‘Dancing on a Whim’

Let the Island Inspiration All-Stars take you on a journey around the world.

Local dancers are presenting an eclectic concert showcasing a variety of styles from circus arts to Irish jigs to ballet, modern, hip-hop and more.

“It is guaranteed to have audience members moving in their seats,” said choreographer and director Anthony the Dancer. “It is an hour and a half of excellent dancing and good, clean, family-fun entertainment.”

“Dancing on a Whim” will be on the Orcas Center main stage at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 25, and Saturday, May 26. Tickets are $15 and $12 for students at www.orcas.dance and www.orcascenter.org. There are $5 subsidized tickets available at the box office.

The cast includes Hailey Averna, Gail Bulletset, Charles Dalton, Jessica Kruger, Tiffany Loney, Aristotle Luna, Samantha Martin, Stephanie Moss, River Ocean, Garth Simpson, Tori Sturk, Anwyn Thompson and Grace Thompson.

Also joining the production are the Shooting Stars, a children group led by Loney, who was seen most recently alongside Luna in “Billy Elliot: The Musical.” Many of the little faces in the kids’ dances will also be remembered from that production.

Anthony says he is inspired by the people he sees every day on the streets of Orcas.

“I often wonder if they know how insane it is that we live in such an incredibly beautiful place, or if it’s all taken for granted?” he said. “I spend more time appreciating nature now that I’m on the back nine of life … this year it needs a little more ‘razzle dazzle’ to go along with our newfound sunshine. I love making dances for the occasion. Moreover, I love watching people dance. We have a gifted community here, and I am lucky to have tapped into the well of talented people who really love to move. The Island Inspiration All-Stars is not just a dance collective, it’s a family and an honest, supportive group committed to presenting something beautiful for all to see.”
