The Lady Vikings’ league record is 5-5 after this Tuesday’s win against Concrete, 3-1.

After one last regular season game against Lopez this week, the team will play a league tournament in Mt. Vernon this Saturday. Assistant coach Hank Date expects the girls to finish second in their division.

“La Conner will take first, Concrete third, we probably will end up tying Friday Harbor for second,” he said. Friday Harbor moves to another league for playoffs, because of current league organizational structure.

Depending on their performance at the league tournament, the Vikings could go on to bi-district playoffs on Nov. 6.

La Conner and Bear Creek games

The Lady Vikes scored in the double-digits against La Conner in all three matches on Oct. 21, something assistant coach Hank Date calls “no mean feat.”

“La Conner’s the perennial powerhouse, usually the state champion,” he said. “We played them very well, really stepped up the game and gave them a little bit of a scare perhaps. We even forced a time-out, which is a good thing.”

While the Braves carried the night 3-0, every game was very close.

At the Bear Creek Tourney on Saturday Oct. 23 Orcas came in third of five teams, with seven wins and five losses. Among the teams were Bear Creek, another of the state powerhouses.
