The ladies and men’s golf team hit the greens on their home turf, hosting Grace Academy on March 21.

“The Ladies continued their strong performance and squeaked out a win to continue their perfect season,” said Coach Bobby Olmsted. “Maia Lewis-Shunk posted a respectful score of 55 with twin sister a 57, both are only 8th graders! The surprise of the day went to Emily Toombs who had her best match of the season with a 65, down 20 strokes from the last match. Emily was striking the ball with power and her short game was just beautiful.”

Facing the Bi-Districts in May, Olmsted opted to mix the lineup on the men’s team to prepare his guys for post season play.

“The boys hosted a strong Grace Academy team coached by Don Vogus,” he said. “They boys came out swinging with Rowan Lister posting his best score of the season with a 50 and his younger brother on his heels with a 54. Seri O’Toole has his best match of the season with a 55, 10 shots lower than his last match. Leif Gustafson followed with a 65.”

They play their last home match this week against Lopez and their last regular season match at Lopez on May 5.

Tthe Lady Vikings softball team exploded against the Concrete Lions on April 18 in a commanding win, 18-8. The Ladies are 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference.

“Emily Nichols pitched a complete game striking out 4, walking 2,” said Coach Jason Nichols. “We hit the ball really well throughout the game. Bethany Hansen had a couple hits including a double and Jessie Nichols hit two doubles and had a couple RBI’s. The big star of the day was Kat Schiller with two hits including a double, a triple and four RBI’s.”

On April 18, the Viking baseball team beat the Concrete Lions 14-2 and later in the week dominated Shoreline 11-1, improving their overall record to 8-3 and their conference record 4-2.

“The game was only five innings because of our lead, but Miles Harlow pitched four innings and Hayden Simpson relived,” said Coach Jim Passer. “Both guys did well. Harlow had a couple hits and three runs. I have to give a shout out to Grayson White, he played really well …. Ivan Bullock pitched against Shoreline with Pasha Bullock in relief and both guys did a good job.”

The softball and baseball teams play double headers against Darrington on Friday, April 29 at 2 p.m. in Buck Park.
