Orcas Island’s Lady Vikings traveled to La Conner on Friday, March 29. After a score of 6-1 by the end of the first 6 innings, the Vikings were up to bat for the final inning. They scored a final run and were fielding against La Conner, which proceeded to score 5 more points. The sun, heat, and lack of a scoreboard lead to a plethora of confusion in the dugout. After the final inning the score was 7-6. The Vikings celebrated their first win of the season!

Following the La Conner game, on March 30, the Lady Vikings played Concrete. They celebrated a win of 29-11.

“Anyone can quit, but it takes a strong, committed person not to quit when times are tough,” said Canter field senior starter Valeria Villarreal.

The Lady Vikings will next play Granite Falls High School at an away game on April 8. The boys varsity team will also play that day as well as on April 4 at Mt. Baker.

Orcas Island’s track team traveled to Mount Vernon Christian School for a track meet on March 28. The next meet is April 6 for the Birger Solberg Invitational 2024 at the Civic Stadium in Bellingham.
