Saints dominate ‘Frazier Valley Football Tournament’

The OCS Flag Football team recently traveled overseas and then across the border to compete in the Frazier Valley Flag Football Tournament held in Aldergrove, Canada. They dominated both of their tournament draws and won 40-6 VS the Frazier Valley Lions and 33-6 VS their mainland rivals The Skagit Valley Eagles.

Orcas Christian School Flag Football Opens Fall Season with two huge wins in Canada versus Skagit Adventist and Fraser Valley Academy.

The last time the Orcas Christian Saints faced Fraser Valley Adventist Academy, was in the semifinal game of the British Columbia Provincial Flag Football Playoffs last spring. The Fraser Royals would go on to beat the Saints on their way to the championship game. With that loss still fresh in the minds of the Saints, they hit the turf eager to avenge their loss, and start the season off on the right foot in the first game of the Fraser Valley Fall Invitational Tournament, in Aldergrove, British Columbia, Canada.

On the Royals first offensive drive, the Quarterback threw an interception right into the hands of Saint’s Defensive Back Michael Harris that burned down the field for a Saints touchdown. The defensive would continue their relentless pressure on the Royal’s offensive wreaking havoc on their game plan, as Cyrus Amour and Trevor Warem kept up a swift and steady pass rush, allowing the Maddie Hance and Corry Aragon a chance to make some plays in the defensive backfield.

The Offensive of Orcas Christian executed their gamelan with surgeon like precision, slicing and dicing the Royals Defensive, going up big early in the game, as Quarterback Ryan Flint threw for several scores as the Saints cruised to a 40-6 victory

In the second game, the Saints faced longtime rival, the Skagit Adventist Timberwolves. The Saints kept up their arsenal of offensive attack, by spreading out the work load. Lucien Anderson caught several zip for nice gains that set up for a few deep passes to Correy Aragon. One of those passes was a 30 yard bomb that Aragon held onto in double coverage. Michael Harris and Robert Miller kept the defense on their toes, as they rambled for big rushes on the ground, behind the blocking of Eve Hance.

The final game ended with a 30-6 Saint win, sending them home with the tournament trophy.
