In their final league match of the season at home on Tuesday, the Orcas Golf team battled hard. The boys’ team brought their ‘A’ game but fell by four stokes to LaConner. The girls’ team scored an easy win.
“We played through hail, snow, rain and sunshine,” said coach Richard Têtu of the Lopez Lobos match against Grace Academy on April 29. “The boys’ team only lost by five strokes! So close.”

Lopez Island Senior Services invites the community to the sixth annual Islanders Bank Golf Tournament Saturday, May 10 at 1 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the renovation of Woodmen Hall and help support senior services operations.
Four Orcas Viking boys shared the medalist spot in a match with inter-island rivals, the Lopez Lobos, on Wednesday, April 23. Henri Bredouw, Taylor Diepenbrock, Anthony Ghazel and Roy Miller each shot a 40 in the Vikings boys’ 211-285 victory in an away match at the Lopez Golf course.
The Lopez Lobos track team outshone their 2B and 1B opponents this past week. On Thursday, they faced seven schools at the NW B league meet in Concrete and on Saturday, they traveled to Edmonds for the 14-school North Sound Invitational.
Hard work and consistency are paying off for the Lopez Lobos golf team. Lopez faced their two toughest opponents last week and showed they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Orcas Island High School Sailing Team tacked and jibed against 10 other northwest teams this weekend on Dogfish Bay in Poulsbo, Washington. This was mostly a team-racing regatta, though some fleet races were run as well.
