OCS b-ball finishes up

The Orcas Chrisian School Saints won 52 to 39 against the Lopez Lobos last week. Cyrus Amour led the team with 25 points, Michael Harris followed with 16, while Ryan Flint, Elliott Clause, Nick Hodges and Cameron Aragon scored to help lock in the win.

A look at Viking basketball games

On Jan. 20 the Lady Vikings hosted Cedar Park Christian for a 56-42 win. The Vikings employed a stifling full court press, forcing Cedar Park turnovers but were clearly in a shooting funk, ending the half up only 24-13. Viking points from the free throw line helped maintain the lead.

Vikings eye play-offs

The boys and girls basketball teams look to improve their records as they fight for a second to fourth playoff seed spot for the Northwest 2B/1B playoffs that start Feb. 16.

Vikings play LaConner

The Lady Vikings traveled to Skagit Valley for an 81-46 loss to the LaConner Braves on Dec. 16. Facing the top team in the league with a 6-0 record, the 2-2 Vikings led after the first quarter, which Coach Gregg Sasan felt “surprised” the Braves.

Orcas homecoming ushers in fall

The Vikings (0-5) faced Friday Harbor (4-1) for the second meeting of the season ending in another loss, 30-6.

Homecoming events coming soon

The homecoming assembly is on Friday, Oct. 10 at 1:10 p.m. in the gym. The community is invited. A parade will go through Eastsound at 2:50 p.m. Following the parade, watch the boys’ soccer team at Dahl Field starting at 4 p.m.

Viking volleyball | Slideshow

Vikings volleyball played two of the better teams in the league and got swept in both contests. On Sept. 30, Orcas traveled to Darrington for a 3-0 loss against the Loggers, one of the top teams in the league.

Football team battles hard | Slideshow

The Vikings football team traveled to LaConner for a 43-6 loss under the lights in Skagit Valley. Suiting up only 14 players versus 36 Braves, the Vikings showed resolution and commitment to their teammates and school as they once again faced an insurmountable task. At half, a well-executing Brave team lead 36-0.

Saints dominate ‘Frazier Valley Football Tournament’

The OCS Flag Football team recently traveled overseas and then across the border to compete in the Frazier Valley Flag Football Tournament held in Aldergrove, Canada. They dominated both of their tournament draws and won 40-6 VS the Frazier Valley Lions and 33-6 VS their mainland rivals The Skagit Valley Eagles.

Fall sports update

The Lady Vikings soccer team hosted the LaConner Braves on Sept. 22 in a 4-0 loss. The Vikings had a very tight defensive first half limiting the Braves to one break away goal. The Braves continued to put pressure on the goalie in the second half with two deep kicks and a penalty kick after a hands call.

Walking far for Binka

Mandy Nigretto and Kristin Mierau participated in the Susan G. Komen Three-day walk in Seattle this past weekend, walking a total of 60 miles.
