Orcas twins go to state for golf

Maia and Zoe Lewis-Shunk qualified for the state golf championship at the tri-district tournament in Oak Harbor on May 19. Maia placed third and Zoe placed fifth. The eighth-grade twins beat out 14 other girls.

Maia and Zoe Lewis-Shunk qualified for the state golf championship at the tri-district tournament in Oak Harbor on May 19. Maia placed third and Zoe placed fifth. The eighth-grade twins beat out 14 other girls.

The state championship was held at Meadowood Golf Course in Spokane where the top 30 lady golfers from 1b-2b schools throughout the state competed. At the end of the first day, 15 players moved on. Maia shot a 93 qualifying for day two; Zoe did not make the cut, which was 97. Maia earned 10th place overall with a score 92.
