Game One

The Vikings came out swinging, scoring six runs in the first inning while denying the Lions. They added five more runs in the second. When Concrete knocked in its first three runs in the third inning, Orcas upped the ante with 11 more, finishing off the game in the fourth with a final run.

Game Two

The Vikings sailed into game two at a milder pace, ahead 6-0 by the fourth inning. The Lions squeaked in two runs; Orcas hit back with four more, and each team put in one in the sixth inning for a 3-10 final score.

Orcas came out of the matchup with a solid 7-3 season record.

Batting Stats

The girls are earning some serious chops as hitters.

Batting averages: freshman Bella Nigretto, .692; senior Emily Bodenhamer .636; Lana Bronn, .556; Brooke Bruland, .526; Aliviah Garcia, .500; Kathryn Tidwell, .458 and senior pitcher Adria Garcia .320.

Bodenhamer has racked up 20 runs and 33 total bases this season, with Nigretto at her heels with 19 runs and 30 bases. Each has nailed two home runs, while Bronn and Alicia Susol have each knocked one out of the park too.

Sticky-toed Bodenhamer and Nigretto also lead the team in base thievery, tempting the defense with sly footwork and a keen eye for when to dash for freedom.

The Vikings’ next home game is a double-header against Friday Harbor, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on April 30 at Buck Park.
