Orcas Center’s 14th annual Island Market / Red Rabbit Farm Golf Classic was a spirited event, with tremendous weather, fun and food, with the Orcas Island Country Golf Course looking greener than ever.

The event raised over $15,000 for Orcas Center’s diverse programming. Two major sponsors, Island Market and Red Rabbit Farm, kept the golfers and guests well-fed, and a host of other island businesses and individuals sponsored the event.

A highlight of the day was a hard-fought battle for second lowest gross where three teams vied for the same position. Even after three rounds on a reconfigured ninth hole where all the guests could observe, no one team emerged the ultimate winner. It had to be finally be determined by a putt-off.

The big winners:

Lowest Gross: 12 under par, Greg Griffith, Mark Hoshall, Jim Shaffer-Bauck, Theron Soderlund.

Second Lowest Gross: 8 under par, Mike O’Connell, Rollie Rueb, Dave Shore and Jim Youngren.

Third Lowest Gross: 8 under par, Steve Bailey, Wally Gudgell, Richard Keck, Terry Moran-Hodge.

Lowest Mixed Gross: 7 under par, Suzanne Gropper, Anthony Ghazel, Roy Miller, Bobby Olmstead.

Second Lowest Mixed Gross: 5 under par, James Hiester, Diane Lasko, Melissa Moran-Hodge, Kathy Youngren.

Third Lowest Mixed Gross: 3 under par, Janis Dameron, Jim Dameron, Sara Linnes and Henry Jameson.

Longest Drive, Women: Christy Rakow.

Longest Drive, Men: Anthony Ghazel.

Straightest Drive, Women: Christy Rakow.

Straightest Drive, Men: Anthony Ghazel.

Closest to the Pin, Women: Christy Rakow.
