Orcas basketball: Vikings fall to Friday Harbor

The Lady Vikings hosted the Wolverines at the Orcas High School Gym on Dec. 10. Friday Harbor ran a fast-paced game, resulting in a close win for the Wolverines.

The Lady Vikings hosted the Wolverines at the Orcas High School Gym on Dec. 10. Friday Harbor ran a fast-paced game, resulting in a close win for the Wolverines.

At halftime the score was 22 to 12. The Lady Vikings came out in the third quarter and soon the Vikings were within three points and striking distance. At the end of the third quarter the score was 30 to 33. At that point, Orcas was in foul trouble and couldn’t seem to get an edge again.

“Aliviah Garcia came off the bench to show an awesome, fiery spirit,” said coach Tim Hance.

He named her “Player of the Game.”

Bella Nigretto had 11 points, Lana Bronn had 9, Shelbi Rogers and Aliviah Garcia finished with 6 each, Alena Janssen had three and Alicia Susol had 2. The ending score was 44-37.

The Orcas boys varsity also lost to Friday Harbor, 63-27.
