The Orcas Christian School Saints gym is once again full of activity. After a brief break from volleyball, the Saints have started another season. There is enthusiasm, hard work, optimism, a team spirit and a love for basketball.

The Saints are looking forward to another great year. In their third year as a WIAA member school, they are looking to continue to build upon the success they have experienced.

The Lady Saints under the leadership of new head coach Jay Sack are working harder than ever. The numbers are up and there is a great desire to have a successful year. After suffering from low numbers last year, the Saints have 10 girls playing and two seventh grade students practicing and working towards next year.

“I love the game of basketball so much. This team that I have the privilege to coach this year has shown me why I love basketball,” said Sack. “And we haven’t even played a game yet.”

The boy’s team is once again led by Head Coach Ryan Davis. This is Davis’ second year with the team. Out of 10 players, only four are returning from last year.

“We have a lot of new faces on the team this year,” said Davis. “I am excited about what this team is becoming and what we can do.” The men’s team is led by senior captain Cameron Aragon. “I really like the group of guys we have this year; we are a team.”

The Saints are once again led by Athletic Director Breezy Davis. Now, in her third year running the program, she has guided the program’s growth to what we have this season. The numbers are up and the students are excited to play for their OCS Saints.
