Orcas Christian took down the defending state Champions, the Lummi Nation Blackhawks, 44-36 in a game that showcased the Saints hard work and talents in the young season. The night before, Lummi’s 31 game win streak came to an end after they were beaten by an Australian All Star team.

The Saints started the game with a score on the first possession by Corey Aragon and never trailed after that point.  In the second half the Saints gained momentum that stemmed off of crucial defensive stops that led to quick transition points on the offensive end.

“Our guys executed the game plan perfectly. We controlled the tempo of the game and every player did their job. We played as a team,” said Head Coach, Ryan Davis.

Junior, Cameron Aragon caught fire from the 3 point line as he nailed 4, 3 pointers to lead the Saints in scoring. Senior Guard, Michael Harris scored 11 and was responsible for the bulk of he Saint’s assists. Senior, Nick Hodges had a break out game for the Saints as he scored 7 points on the night, and hit a big 3 pointer in the 2nd quarter.

“We had slowed down and controlled the ball and took good shots down the stretch,” said Harris.

On the low block, the Saints forward play again excelled, as Cyrus Amour was a huge factor as a dynamic rebounder and controlled the paint on both ends of the floor. Ryan Flint and Joey Fowler joined Amour in stout post play securing key rebounds.

The Saints were also successful in their defensive match ups, holding Lummi’s Trazil Lane to just 16 points. Lane had netted 42 points in a previous game this season.
