The 2018-2019 season of Orcas High School boys basketball is here. We had our first home game on Friday, Nov. 30.

We have a very intelligent and athletic group of players returning. A good number of them were members of this year’s boys state soccer team, and I am excited to see that speed on the court.

As a first-year coach at this level, I feel very fortunate to have such an opportunity. Many of these players I have coached through seventh- and eighth-grade in the boys SWISH league. So we already have an understanding. There are a few players I haven’t coached befor, and it has been a true honor getting to know them this past couple of weeks.

This Vikings squad has been working extremely hard at practice, taking on whatever I throw at them. The team has a great heart and a solid family connection with one another that shows every day in the gym.
