The Orcas Middle School Falcons Soccer team coached by Chris Doherty is off to a great start.

The 22 seventh and eighth grade boys and girls have been training hard and learning to understand the game of soccer.

Their first game was versus Lopez and the Falcons won 4 -1.

The second game was Mt. Vernon Christian resulting in a 2-2 draw. It was a tough game and the team relied on the defensive midfield players and the back four defenders.

The third game was against La Conner and the Falcons won 8-3 with a dazzling performance in the second half from our attacking forwards.

The team has worked hard to establish a passing game as our style of play. The La Conner game was a great team effort from all players.

The back four main defenders are Adia Dolan, Joie Zier, Enzo Thixton and Joanne Mietzner and Luke Bronn in goal. Main midfield players are Charlie Holmes, Jose Erazo, Axel Greening, Skyler Gregg, Christian Bailey and Chase Kanfrud. The line of forwards consists of Henry McMurrey, Kellen Maier, Matthew Mullins, Yusui Duni, and Serei O’Toole.

The rest of the hard working team that fill in the positions and do a great job are Eliza Diepenbrock, Caitlin Fowler, Stephanie Harris, Keith Light and Matthew White. Due to injury Carlos Erazo and Cole Smith have not played. Coach Doherty hopes you will have a chance to watch this talented group of players at home our games on Oct. 16, 23 and 25.
