Lopez Lobos soccer gaining ground

The Lobos came out ready to play hard against Grace Academy, one of their first league games of the season, and the Lobos took the day, beating Grace 3-2 on Sept. 29.

Charlie O’Neill, who scored one that day for his team, said, “They were a good team, hard to get around their defense. But we just kept our focus.”

O’Neil scored one on an assist from Nia Bartalucci that found air and a hole into the goal.

“They all played well as a team that day. Charlie scored, William Carson scored, and Nia Bartalucci,” coach Melanie Weber said. “They played really well as a team and everyone had a huge impact on the game. Arlen Coiley broke his leg goal keeping on Tuesday, though, and that was a tough break, literally. But everyone made their mark.”

For example, Lobo Grant Fisher fed the ball to Nia Bartalucci who controlled it and shot it for a post score against Grace.
