Jake Zier is athlete of the week

In the opening football game versus Vashon Island, Zier rushed for 291 yards and had four touchdowns and a two-point conversion in a dramatic overtime win.

Jake Zier, a senior at Orcas Island High School, was selected by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association as the WIAA Athlete of the Week for week of Sept. 9.

Each week throughout the school year, the WIAA recognizes up to 12 varsity athletes, a male and a female from each of the six classifications, who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week. Zier was selected with five other football players in the state.
