High school basketball Hoop Shoot fundraiser Jan. 27

High school basketball players will be shooting for dollars Thursday night at 6 p.m. at the annual “Hoop Shoot” fundraiser event. The girls' team will be aiming to score some new uniforms.

High school basketball players will be shooting for dollars Thursday night at 6 p.m. at the annual “Hoop Shoot” fundraiser event. The girls’ team will be aiming to score some new uniforms.

Each player will get to take three shots in each position, earning a certain dollar amount per basket. A swish from half-court earns $40; an NBA three-pointer, $25; a regular three-pointer, $20; a free throw, $10; and each lay-in earns $5.

Those wanting to sponsor a player for the Hoop Shoot should contact a player or show up at the event to fill out a pledge form, said athletics coordinator Sandi Harris.

“It’s fun for the kids, fun for everyone,” said Harris.

Last home basketball game

The Orcas Vikings’ last home basketball game is on Saturday, Jan. 29.The girls play Concrete at 12:30 p.m. and the boys play at 2 p.m.
