Sept. 7 was the season home opener ending in a 7-3 win versus Mount Vernon Christian. The girls’ soccer team came together with some impressive passing combinations and goals with Lana Bronn scoring four in the back of the net and a hat trick by Brynna Gregg.

Sept. 11 the Lady Vikings traveled to Friday Harbor for a league contest resulting in a 5 to 0 loss.

“I am really proud of our team’s steadfast effort and heart,” said Coach Chama Anderson. “They played composed amid the loss. The team as a whole really displayed solid defense. Julia Bailey, our goalkeeper, played outstanding. It was one of her best games of her high school career.”

Sept. 15 was a non-league contest in Redmonds against Bear Creek resulting in a 1 to 8 loss. This was a tough game according to Anderson.

“We are learning to support each other, mark up and communicate effectively,” she said. “We are also learning as the competition increases, our

speed of thought and action and anticipation needs to quicken as well.”

The lone goal by Kirsten Fowler was a free kick 25 yards out that was perfectly lofted over the keeper’s head and dropped just under the crossbar.

The Vikings next host Concrete here Sept. 20.

“Come out and cheer us on,” Said Anderson.
