Reports of heavy black smoke and visible flames at the tree top level brought Orcas Island Fire & Rescue to Obstruction Pass landing on Dec. 18. Firefighter Seth Ybarra and EMT Hilary Canty were in the area and responded ahead to the island in a private boat, arriving first on scene of a fully involved structure fire. No one was at home at the time.
