Do you have something to say that you want to share with the rest of the community? Are you already writing a weekly column? If so, consider becoming a blogger on our website.
Our site currently has two active blogs: “Ask April,” which is managed by April the Cow, Eastsound’s mayor, and “Gluten Free Foodies” by Lisa Garza.
Writers can either blog directly onto our site or set up their own blog with which the Sounder can link.
The time commitment varies. You can write daily or weekly. The topics also have a broad range: island life, sports, parenting, photography, managing money, pet care, gardening, sustainability and cooking.
The Beachcomber on Vashon Island has “Vashon Verité: A candid slice of Island life, from short feature digests to guess-where snapshots” and “From the Sidelines: Observations on Vashon Island Sports.”
The Whidbey News Time has such blogs as “Going Green on Whidbey”; Joining Their Journey: The staff of Regency on Whidbey talk about caring for the senior in your life”; “Mind Your Business: The latest from Oak Harbor’s Chamber of Commerce”; and “The ReelScope: A film student’s recommendations, reviews and essays on motion pictures new and old.”
If you are passionate about a particular topic, you want to ruminate on it regularly and you have writing skills, contact us at editor@islandssounder.com with your idea. If you are already an active blogger, send us a link to your site.
We live in a community of scholars, doctors, engineers, master gardeners, parents, grandparents and artists. You are talented, and we hope you will share that with our online readers.
