When the Design Team for TEDxOrcasIsland decided on the theme for our 2016 event, we reached out to Corey Wiscomb, a design and art teacher at Orcas High School, for support in creating a logo that spoke to our theme, "Best of Both Worlds."

When the Design Team for TEDxOrcasIsland decided on the theme for our 2016 event, we reached out to Corey Wiscomb, a design and art teacher at Orcas High School, for support in creating a logo that spoke to our theme, “Best of Both Worlds.”

Students Kaya Osborn and Rachel Brewer, under the guidance of Mr. Wiscomb, created the background graphic for our banner. We used it on our t-shirts, program cover and marketing materials, giving these gifted artists a wonderful reach for their unique design. Many thanks to their talents and contribution to TEDxOrcasisland.

Our 14 speakers delivered an exciting day-long conference that ignited and inspired islanders’ imaginations. The Core Team of Volunteer Coordinator Annemieka Neenan, Décor and Hospitality Coordinator Fran Tatu along with Co-curators Gretchen Krampf and Adam Farish want to thank our sponsors Martha Farish and Joe Cohen; Lynnaea Lumbard and Rick Paine (NewStories), Catiya Gainor and Jan Kos of Cheeseland; our in-kind contributors, Brown Bear Baking Company, NEST, Rose’s Bakery, Enzo’s, Carol Jo Enge, Jill Blankenship and Bathan Shaner and the many volunteers who provided coaching for our speakers, registration/ushering/hospitality services, photography, stage management and transportation services to our guests.

It takes an ISLAND to create a successful gathering like TEDxOrcasIsland and we raise our hands in appreciation to all who purchased tickets, provided accommodations and joined us in sharing a magical weekend.
