Remember when? Here on Orcas, we are used to having many (some would say hoards) of visitors each summer.

Many of these visitors are actually homegrown islanders returning to visit family, friends, or coming back to see the beautiful island they grew up on. This is also the time of year for school reunions. Many of our graduating classes were very small. The class of 1971, for example, had only 16 students, three of which were female. Sometimes these classes group three or four years together and have a great party, reminiscing, catching up and enjoying being back together here on the island.

The Orcas Island Public Library has recently acquired several Vikings yearbooks for our collection. The oldest is 1940, and they are so much fun to look through.  You will see many familiar names, and faces, so stop by and have a look. The yearbooks are always here, located in our reference collection.  Special thanks to the Orcas High School Yearbook staff for passing these along to the library to archive.  If you have one of these yearbooks gathering dust and would like us to house it for you, we would be more than happy to have the ones that we are missing. We are looking for the following years:  1941-1952, 1954, 1958, 1960, 1962-63, 1968-71, 1975, 1977-79, and 2003-04.

Please contact me at the library at 376-4985 if you have any of these yearbooks.
