Liquor Control Board and County Sheriff’s Office cites Orcas business

The Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Friday cited two businesses in San Juan County for alcohol violations following an Aug. 8 joint undercover operation conducted by the two organizations.

Officers checked 10 businesses during the undercover operation. The Lower Tavern of Orcas Island was cited for over-service, as was their bartender on duty.

The WSLCB regularly works with local authorities such as the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office to visit businesses licensed to sell alcohol. These businesses include spirits, beer and wine restaurants, large grocery chains, neighborhood markets, taverns, wine bars and sports/entertainment facilities.

Other businesses checked on Aug. 8 and found to be in compliance were: the Galley Restaurant and the Islander Restaurant on Lopez Island; and the American Legion Post, Rosario Resort and Vern’s Bayside on Orcas Island.
