Dog park shelter okayed

Thanks to a wide variety of generous donors and conscientious users, the new Eastsound Off-Leash Dog Area is seeing a lot of use and well on its way to meeting the mission to provide a place for dogs to exercise and socialize and for their owners to do a bit of the same!

Thanks to a wide variety of generous donors and conscientious users, the new Eastsound Off-Leash Dog Area is seeing a lot of use and well on its way to meeting the mission to provide a place for dogs to exercise and socialize and for their owners to do a bit of the same!

Local architect David Kau and builder Ken Katz have donated their efforts to design a small shelter to help make the Off-Leash Area more useful by providing a place for users to have some protection from the weather. And Ken Katz has offered his crew to build it! We’re gratified that the Port of Orcas has now given their okay for construction of the shelter this fall.

The Port has donated the use of the land for the off-leash area until the land is needed for airport purposes. We ask that everyone respect this generous donation and continue to respect and care for the Day Use Park and the Off-Leash Area.

When the shelter is complete we’ll have a celebration to both have some fun and honor the donors. In the meantime, we’ll see you at the dog park!
