Wesley Ray, also known as William Wesley Ray was born on December 15, 1930 in Elma, Washington. His nickname was “Buck”. He passed away on June 21, 2018 from a stroke in Seattle, Washington. He was a resident of Orcas Island for 50 years. Buck married his wife Wilma in 1951. They were inseparable for the next 67 years. He owned “Ray’s Septic and Excavation Services” on Orcas Island for 47 years until he retired in 2007. Some of the groups he was a part of were: Orcas Sportsman Club, Orcas Grange, the Odd Fellows, Lions and an honorary member of the Eastsound Legion. Buck collected old Model A’s and T’s and had 20 of them. He loved to hunt and was a precise marksman.

He leaves behind his wife Wilma from Elma, his daughter Leona Curtis from Stanwood and his sister, Beverly Anderson from Montesano. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Buck is preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Dexter Ray, his son, Wesley, his sisters, Arveda Whitesel and Lorna Anderson.
