Ruth Lucille Pihl, 92, passed away in Poulsbo, WA on April 2, 2011. The daughter of Robert Morris and Florence Amanda (Bates) Prizer, Ruth was born Oct. 28, 1918 in Glasco, KS. She and her husband Maurice moved to Orcas Island in 1972.

Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for over 30 years at various businesses on Orcas Island, including the Orcas Hotel, Templins Market, and Homegrown Market. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Florence; husband, Maurice Warner Pihl; and daughter, Judity P. Sulser. She is survived by daughters, Donna Pihl of Shoreline, WA and Linda Ibsen (Jerry) of Suquamish, WA; grandson, John Warner Ibsen (Rebecca) of Fullerton, CA; great-grandchildren, Skylar Blue and Warner John; niece, Florence Jones (Lyle) of Buckley, WA; and other nieces and nephews.
